For this episode, you will learn how having a vision of where you want to be can help you press on when life gets tough and help you see opportunities when others see problems. In the words of Chris Wagner, “Vision is the spectacular that inspires us to carry out the mundane”. Vision is what helps us push beyond the pain and keeps us moving forward.

Jimn Kyles 0:06
Welcome to the unstuck and unstoppable podcast where we help you move your life forward. If you’re finding it difficult to see beyond your current circumstances of life, whether it’s your career, your finances, your marriage, your family, or health or any other area of your life, you’re listening to the right episode of our podcast today. I’m your host, Jimn Kyles, and I’m here with Jolea Garza. Hello, hello. Hey, Joe. Joe, it’s good to see you today. Yeah, so excited to continue our conversation that we started last week. And we are talking about moving your life forward with vision, vision, vision vision.
Pastor Jolea 0:42
I just was gonna say the same thing. vision, vision, vision vision.
Jimn Kyles 0:45
That’s right. It’s all about vision. Yes, it is. And I’m glad to have you join us today. Maybe you’re here for the very first time welcome. Those of you that are continuing this journey. We’re so thrilled to have you with us. And you know, the real goal of today, and really, the podcast is twofold. We want to help you get unstuck. First, just recognizing where am I stuck, and then we want to help you move your life forward. Yeah, become unstoppable, become unstoppable. That’s it, I want to move forward, I’m not going to stop, there’s always going to be problems, right? We’re always going to face challenges, but we want to help you move your life forward. And really, we’re continuing the conversation of what we started a couple of weeks ago, we have really the four building blocks of life. Right? Right. And vision is the third major building block that we’re focusing on. And so it’s important that if you didn’t listen to the identity, identity, and then purpose, purpose, and then vision, go back and listen to that, and then come back to this or you can listen to this, and then go back to those as well. But each
Pastor Jolea 1:45
week, we’re building on top of the concepts that we’ve discussed over the last few weeks laying
Jimn Kyles 1:49
the foundation. Yeah, that’s right. And so today is just continuing to build the third one. That’s right. Yeah. Here we go. Here we go. Well, last week, we had two points that we talked about, we’re going to give you another two things that vision does. And then I’m going to give you an exercise to help you really start the process and the journey to uncover your vision.
Pastor Jolea 2:08
That’s great. Well, I’m really excited to dive in.
Jimn Kyles 2:10
Yeah, talking about first thing we learned last week. Yeah. So
Pastor Jolea 2:13
last week, we learned a couple things. The first is that vision is the ability to see beyond your present reality into the future reality God has for you. So good. This was such a good discussion that we had we even talked about, he told some stories about gastric bypass and, and really just the ability to see it and being able to see it really can change. You know how you operate today. Whatever you
Jimn Kyles 2:35
see is what you become. Yeah. And so so important. Second thing, vision is what helps you realize that where you are is not where you’ll end up.
Pastor Jolea 2:44
Yeah. Which is my favorite. It’s so easy to get stuck. You know, where you are. And that’s a part of becoming unstuck and becoming unstoppable. But it’s we get stuck where we are because of what reality looks like. Sometimes life gets hard, just like you talked about. But but when you have vision, you can move past today and keep taking steps forward. Because you know where you’re going?
Jimn Kyles 3:04
Well, I think sometimes you could be stuck so long you feel stranded or without hope. Right? And then you can’t see beyond the now. And if you can’t see beyond the now you’ve got nothing to lead you through your day of pain, right? I’m going to pull you out. Well, the third thing today is vision helps you press on when life gets tough. Yeah. Which I love. Yeah, I love that. It press it helped it press on. See, vision pulls you and I alluded to it just a second ago through your day of pain and keeps you moving forward. Right vision does that I’m reminded of the story and you know, in my book, unstuck and unstoppable, which is releasing November 15. Yes. And you can go get your pre ordered copy. Today you go preorder a copy on the website, jimnkyles.com. So we’re so excited about that. We’re getting so close, so close. You know, I talk a lot about the Apostle Paul. Yeah. And when you look at his life, how he just continue to move forward through all the obstacles, but I was thinking about even today, you know, you and I are Christians. So we understand. And I’ve heard many of the stories are all the stories in the Bible. And there’s one in Genesis chapter six, and it’s the story of Noah. Wow, yeah. And I’m reminded of Noah, Noah is the one that built the ark. And here you have a man that God gives him a revelation. Hey, I’m going to destroy the world. They’re wicked. I want to start over. And he gives him a blueprint. Right? And here’s how you build an ark, which seems impossible. Yeah, back then. First off, it didn’t rain, right? So nobody had ever seen rain. Water came from the ground up. Yep. And here God says I want you to build something but the fascinating thing I was watching the Discovery Channel, it took him 100 years. Wow, to build this massive boat. Yeah,
Pastor Jolea 4:43
I can’t even imagine doing something for 30 days, let alone 100 a lifetime. Yep.
Jimn Kyles 4:48
And what I looked at that was he had a vision of what God wanted him to build. Right. He did not come off that vision. It pushed him past the day. And when you read about it, the people made fun of him. Can you imagine they’d never experienced rain? They have no idea what a flood is. He gets one vision from God to build this boat. And he endures. I’m sure his kids thought he was crazy, Dad. You’re cray cray,
Pastor Jolea 5:14
everybody. Yeah, 100 years, probably people telling him, don’t do it,
Jimn Kyles 5:18
don’t do it. You’re a fool. This guy’s crazy. And all the different things and yet vision pushed him through the day of pain. And he finished it and he got to where God wanted him to go. And I think about the people that are listening right now. Maybe you got a vision, you got a dream, you got something that’s so big on the inside. And people heard it, they would say you’re crazy. Wow, you can’t do that. You can’t write that book. You can’t build that business. You can’t get a doctorates degree. You can’t, whatever you’re you can’t is just realize, hold on to that vision. Yeah, hold on to that dream, hold on to what God placed inside of you. Because if you do, it’ll pull you past your day of pain.
Pastor Jolea 6:00
We always say, you know, we’ve had this conversation many times, we can’t guarantee that as you’re becoming unstuck or getting unstuck and becoming unstoppable, that the life is going to be easy. No. Life is full of ups and downs. And so having great vision can really help you see like, this is not the end for me. That’s right, stranded, I’m okay. And if, if I could just take a step I can get to where I’m going.
Jimn Kyles 6:23
And I’m concerned people have surrendered and given up their vision, their dreams, right. And so we want to help you grab a hold of some of you have never had a dream or a vision for something greater because you just wanted to be a realist, right? Well, I understand that I’m a realist, I understand the reality of now. But God wants every one of you. So he designed you, he fashioned and formed you. And he placed something greater on the inside of you. And so I want to draw that out of you and just say, Look, you can be a realist and still have a vision for where God wants you to something greater. I love what Chris Wagner says. He said, vision is the spectacular, that inspires us to carry out the mundane, wow, do you have anything spectacular in your life that you’re constantly thinking about? Your eyes are focused on your energy is focused on, because that’s what’s going to help you get through the mundane journey of life.
Pastor Jolea 7:15
I also think about you know, that’s maybe if you have a vision for a business, you know what I mean? The spectacular vision, it really is what gets you through when taking the time to research come all the DB and file the DBA and invest the money, you know, and save the money. That’s the mundane of not spending everything today because you know, where you’re going tomorrow. And it’s hard, it takes work. Yes.
Jimn Kyles 7:42
No, the brother said the monotony of the mundane. Yeah, that’s the discipline of doing day in and day out what needs to be done, right? Regardless of how hard it is, or how easy it is, whichever is spectrum at our side of the spectrum it falls on, we’re just not going to stop. Number four vision helps you see the potential, not just the problem. Wow. So I get to see the potential, I get to see what it can become not what it is. Wow, what it can be the possibility. So here’s what I would say, a lot of times people see just the problem. Yeah. And you’ve been staring at the problem so long, subconsciously, you’re reproducing what you’re looking at, wow, the vision that you have today, you what we call self sabotage. And you don’t even realize it. Yeah, that’s great. But if you have a vision for something greater, it goes back to the story of my grandfather, and my pastor friend, he had to reimage himself. That was so great when a powerful because if you can reimage yourself, now I’ve got a new vision, will subconsciously, your body will actually begin to produce whatever vision you see. So if you want to lose weight, look, don’t look at the pictures of you heavy and obese. look at pictures. And you can even crop my friend where she Phyllis has mentored this young lady. Yeah, she cropped the head on somebody and she said, PJ, I read your book. I’m telling ya go reimage. Myself, and I thought it was great. You know, she’s lost, like 20 pounds.
Pastor Jolea 9:11
That’s really, really cool.
Jimn Kyles 9:12
He’s like, I had to get a vision. And I couldn’t do it in my own mind. But I read imaged and cropped it. And she’s lost a ton of weight.
Pastor Jolea 9:18
Yeah. So how do you do that? And let’s just get real realistic, you have a big problem ahead of you, you know, and so, you know, for anybody who’s out there that’s listening. And maybe they’re like, Jimn, this this problem is pretty big. How do you take the time to take your eyes off of the problem and start looking at the potential that the vision really would cast and give you
Jimn Kyles 9:39
you know, it’s hard at first because sometimes you are so hopeless in that situation. But what you’ve got to do, I think we talked a little bit about you’ll get a vision board. If it’s your marriage, go grab some words. And you know, like, you could see hope or forgiveness or fun and joy, what I’m envisioning. Those are words that I see as a vision for marriage, and then write a statement of not where you’re at, but where you’re going to be. We’re going to be fully, madly, passionately in love having fun enjoying life, as partners in this earth together. So that would be an example of a vision statement for my marriage, right? Same thing with your health or your family or your business. And so what you got to do is, I think as you look around, if you allow yourself to dream, there are things that stirs something inside of you. And then the other thing is, as a believer, what we want to do is we want to get God’s Word. We want to go find God’s Word on marriage, God’s Word on family, God’s Word on success, God’s Word on health, because he speaks about everything. The Bible is the great manual for our life. And so it allows us to see beyond because we’re getting God’s word on it. And then just the hope begins to stir because, okay, I can see a brighter future. But have you ever talked to someone who’s had marriage problems? You ask them, Hey, can you see like, there’s just no hope? There’s no hope. Here’s where you know, it’s bad when you say, Hey, tell me why you married her. Hey, tell me why you married him. And I’ve had some crisis management here where we’ve had some intervention counseling. And she’s like, I don’t know. I don’t know. I have no idea. In fact, I’m regretting that day. That’s when it’s gotten bad. Because the truth is, it hadn’t always been that way. You wouldn’t have been married,
Pastor Jolea 11:26
If you were like, Oh, this is gonna be bad. Oh, yeah.
Jimn Kyles 11:29
You were passionately in love, wow, you you had all the and so you gotta go back to that so that you can rekindle there is hope there is life. So
Pastor Jolea 11:37
and even what I’m hearing you say is it’s not just even about seeing it, but also about saying it I wrote down, I was doing some studying this past week, just a reminder that our words create worlds. And so speaking of vision out loud, and saying it even when you don’t see it, it’s also really important.
Jimn Kyles 11:54
Absolutely. Well, I was thinking about even when we bought this building, for those of you that don’t know, we bought this building a couple of years ago, totally renovated, we were portable as a church. Now we’re permanent. But when we came to this campus, it was an old Tractor Supply building, and it was overrun with weeds, the roof was leaking, everything was just really falling apart, except for the bone structure of the cinderblock. And so I remember bringing the team here. And we had an opportunity that day, that we had two choices, we could look at the problems that we saw, great. Or we could say, hey, there’s potential in this property. And we chose the potential I love that. Yeah. And then what we did was we hired some designers that came out and started to say, hey, we could do this, we can do that. And they drew an amazing blueprint of what you see today, this first class, beautiful, amazing campus, that where we facilitate life change. Yeah, but we had them render those drawings. And then we began to show them to the congregation.
It was so impactful. We’re sitting today in the middle of the vision, that was a vision yesterday, or you know, before and I think that’s so important, you know, because even I remember being a part of that, you know, and being able to stand in the building that we’re in now, seeing it completely dilapidated, and being like, Okay, well, how are we going to do this? And yet, the vision that was cast in that season made it so easy to say, Oh, I see it, I see it, and we can we can do this. Let’s just continue to take steps forward. And
I think you’re right, you said it correctly. If I can see it, I can say it. And there is power of life and death. In other words, and what we speak right you are today what you have spoken in your life yesterday, so good. You will be tomorrow what you speak today. So if you say I’m broke, I’m broke, well, you’re gonna be broke. If you say I’m fat, I’m fat, you’re gonna be fat. If you say I’m a failure. Why? Because you you are speaking into existence, the future that your life is going to live. And so we were able to see the possibility the potential, not just the problems. I love what Thomas Edison says he has such a great quote, it says opportunity is missed by most people. Because it’s dressed in overalls, and looks like work. Oh my gosh, I love it. Because that’s what opportunity man it’s dressed in overalls. Yeah, it looks like a lot of work. But if you want to become unstoppable, if you want to live like nobody else, yeah, you got to do the work. Wow, I love that. Man. You got to take time. You got to read vision and re image where you’re going and where your life is headed. And so so many great things now. Now what I want to do is I just want to take just a couple of minutes. That of course you can get the book. Go to the website Jimnkyles.com. We have lots of great downloadable resources to help you will have something that will have questions to help you with your vision as well. But that’s what I’m wanting to do right now. If you’re listening. This is my favorite. Here’s what we want to just give you a couple of things. This isn’t an end all. But you’re going to you’re going to have some questions to go in answer and dig out and discover for yourself and begin the journey, right? So say, Okay, I’m gonna discover the vision. And I want to encourage you vision is not in just one vision for my whole life, there’s really You gotta have visions for every area of your life. And where I would start is Where do you feel stuck? That’s great. Most people don’t feel stuck everywhere, right? They usually feel stuck one place, maybe it’s your finances. You’re like, Man, I’m just financially we’re stuck. Okay, well, that’s where I would start, because that will make the greatest impact in your life right now. And there’s a couple of things, a couple of questions you need to answer. First and foremost, we believe real vision comes from a relationship with God, that if he is our Creator, and the intelligent designer of our life, then if we’re going to have the accurate vision, we need to say, Okay, God, I’m in relationship with you, I have a relationship with you, because that’s where the vision will come from. Right? You don’t want to lean the ladder up against the wrong building, climb to the top, only to recognize your ladders leaning against the wrong thing. And I think without God in the middle of this conversation, not I think, but I know without God in the middle of this conversation, you will, you’ll climb the ladder of success and realize it’s hollow and empty and unfulfilling. But when God is at the center of your life, you’re gonna realize, hey, this is the life that I was created and born to live. Yeah.
Pastor Jolea 16:21
And it’s also just the purpose. It’s, it’s more than yourself. So to create our own vision for ourselves without God, it’s selfish, it is also about us. And eventually, our our motive to get there will run out. That’s right, just like Noah, his his inspiration for getting that boat done had nothing to do with him, and all to do with God’s vision for his life. And that’s what motivated
impacted him. And
it’s going every single day.
Jimn Kyles 16:45
So good, Joe. So first thing, get in alignment with God, that’s great. Second thing is find out what God says in that area of your life. So whatever area it is, you know, and I’ll keep going back to marriage and family and finances and career. Those are really the big areas of our life; personal health, spiritual health, mental health, physical health. So all of those areas, God’s word says something about all those areas. Yeah. And some of you have been living in dysfunction for so long. You don’t even know what healthy is. Wow. And so you’ve got to go get the blueprint of what would healthy look like, right? Physically? What would healthy look like? Well, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Okay, well, then that’s great. Okay, now, I’ve got to then make sure if I was going to present something as a temple for God to dwell, how would I treat it? Right? Would I feed it? How would I exercise good. So it just begins to be the framework.
Pastor Jolea 17:40
Yeah. And I love this. And super, super practical I love thank God for Google. Literally anything that you want it maybe you’re a new Christian, or maybe you’re not even a believer, but you’re like, I’m interested, let me just see what other people are. See what God says about this Google scriptures, about your health, or scriptures about your finances, or scripture. And then as you’re going through them, I think you’ll find scriptures specifically for you that resonate with this season of your life and exactly what you need. And those are the ones to pull out and write down and track for your vision.
Jimn Kyles 18:11
That’s so practical Joe. Well, and then the third thing, this one is really fun, because on the inside of you, God created you with passions and dreams and things that make you come alive. Every one of us are unique in our gifts and our design. So the question that I would ask is, what’s the dream in my heart? Right? Here’s another question. You could ask what makes me come alive? That’s great. Here’s another question you could ask. If I didn’t get paid, what would I do for free?
Pastor Jolea 18:42
It’s a great question.
Jimn Kyles 18:43
So no, take money aside. Didn’t matter how much we made? What would I do? What would I give my life to? And again, there is no perfect one size fit all fits all question. We’re uncovering, there’s layers, it’s like, and all of this will begin to point to a direction where it’s like, wow, right. So for me, I come alive, helping people right. You know, even when we had the restaurant, it’s funny. I was 24 years old. We had a restaurant 30 some odd employees. I was raised in restaurants, so but my restaurant that Phyllis and I owned, there was called Crabby Seafood and Grill. We actually had a mission statement, right. And in that mission statement, it’s the same creed that we have here from the church. I tweaked it a little bit. But I would have my waitstaff, say, seven sentence mission statement, because it was about building something bigger than just making money. And our whole philosophy was, “We want to know your name so we can make a difference in your life.” And we would try to learn our customers names. We’d get to know them. They’d come in and feel it was more than just feeding you. It was like, hey, we want to build a community around you. And I just go back to that, but that’s the core of who I am. Right when I was working with the National Ministry what was I doing? I was leading leaders who led young people across the world, helping people. It’s just what made me come alive.
Pastor Jolea 19:41
Yeah, that’s so good. I always just my heart is always for those that maybe don’t have vision and maybe are so stuck. And maybe I’ve never grown up to that maybe nobody nurtured yearning to dream in your life or, or gave you the ability to dream for your life. You’ve been in survival mode, since day one, just trying to make make it happen, trying to work to pay bills and everything. I just want for those people with this practical step in in finding the dream in your heart, it’s just a go back to what is the last thing that you did that makes you go make you come alive. So maybe you played sports in high school, and that was the last time you were like, I used to feel a rush, and adrenaline and exhilarated and that was just such a great season in my life, or maybe you hosted friends a few weeks ago, and you you came alive doing that. Those are the places if you could just pinpoint those areas, and then ask God to just help develop just dreams and passion around those things that can help you come up with a starting point. That’s so good, never had the opportunity to dream before.
Jimn Kyles 21:02
Yep. And just remember, it’s a journey. Now it will take you time, and you’re gonna have to process through it. So find that place where you think I’ve got a couple of places where I go when I want to just think right, so get away, break out, Olden or stop all the noise, cut off the TV, turn off the phone, and let’s work on ourselves so that we can truly become unstoppable. I can’t wait to hear from you. Listen, tell us about what’s happening and how this is impacting you. We’d love to hear some of the vision that God has placed in your life for the future. We also have some next steps that we’d love to walk you through. Just to continue to move your life forward.
Pastor Jolea 21:41
Yeah, so the first is subscribe. We want you to subscribe to this podcast every Tuesday morning, we drop a new episode. When you subscribe, you’ll get notified when that episode drops.
Jimn Kyles 21:50

Pastor Jolea 21:57
Yeah, and then engage with us. We have an online free Facebook community. This is where you could go in and share. Hey, I am uncovering a vision for my life. We’d love to hear from you. We have a team there we have we’re in that group. And we’d love to connect with you and meet you.
